In 2021, we have celebrated our 100th anniversary in harmony with nature and communities.
Shinano Electric Refining, Co., Ltd. was founded as our predecessor, Taisho Electric Refining Co., Ltd., in 1921, under the motto "Contribute to the world through unique technologies, benefit the environment and society."
Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. took over as a parent entity in 1951, renaming the company to Shinano Electric Refining Co., Ltd. Since its establishment, it has a deep history spanning 100 years in Shinano-machi, Nagano Prefecture.
Currently, our core business consists of the production, development and distribution of silicon carbide and related products. In addition, we have played a role in the inorganic chemicals field since we joined the Shin-Etsu Chemical Group in 1965.
Silicon carbide is a material of great interest with high hardness, excellent heat resistance, durability and thermal conductivity. We seek to create applications using these features by further promoting research into silicon carbide and developing more sophisticated, unique technologies. Our goal is to disseminate leading products worldwide from our base in Shinano-machi.
At the same time, we also give consideration to workers and the surrounding environment in order to find new means of co-prosperity and co-existence. While developing as a company, we remain aware of our mission to preserve nature's abundance for further generations. We appreciate your continued support and patronage.
